At Kumon, we believe that "life skills" are the core to a sound education. Our franchisees, referred to as supervisors, use Kumon's unique learning method to foster "life skills" in children so that they may develop their full potential.
Our supervisors play a vital role in communicating Kumon's vision and philosophy to parents and students, and indeed, the whole community. Through ongoing Parent Information Meetings our supervisors educate parents and students about our image for each child's development through the Kumon Method. Our supervisors individually assess each child to determine the point within the programme that is best suited to the student. From this point, a study projection is shared so that all parties have a clear image of how the child will develop through the Kumon programme.
In the Kumon centre, our supervisors ensure that each student is working on learning materials that are precisely suited to their ability. Through a process known as "Feedback" Kumon Supervisors discuss with each child what they will focus on that day, and agree on the assessment criteria.
The supervisor is responsible for developing each child's independence. A major role of the supervisor is to train children to be confident with the centre procedures. Children are taught to evaluate their own work and set new goals for themselves. Our supervisors are the vital link in the process of maximising each child's self-learning ability. It is enormously rewarding work.
Underpinning the smooth operations of a Kumon Education Centre is an infrastructure of marketing, parent communication, administration and professional development. Kumon's dedicated team of staff provide supervisors with comprehensive training and ongoing support in each of these vital functions so that ultimately supervisors may do so independently.
As a Kumon Supervisor, you will have the opportunity to build an exciting and worthwhile business that contributes to your local community and is flexible enough to fit in with your family and lifestyle needs. You will become part of a team with a worldwide network of associates all working towards developing "life skills" in children around the world.
